as we as site have just debated in another thread buying a V8 car is a better option only in certain market areas where as in others it is better to mod the v6....

berani no offence man but you original post states that a SS and z28 have differant engines....which they dont so im guessing you dont have a whole lot of technical knowledge so let me share what ive learned in months of reserch about this....
My bad, I guess I should have said found in a SS or Z28. Thanks for the replies though. After some reading, I think I'm leaning toward to just sticking with my V6 (manual BTW), but we'll see...once I get a steady job.

dude i dont wanna discouradge you to say you did a swap is great bragging rights but if your looking what most people within their means. you can get a V6 to 350 horse power cheaper than that 5500 and you may be able to find a Z28 for less than that price differance question is do you have the means to wait till your sixers off and sold before you get the V8 and what is the v8 market like in your area or me here almost all Z28s are in teh 12 grand range i payed 5 grand for my 3.8 and it had just under 20k on it when i got it...so for me not worth trading up to a Z. all depends on how your lifes going but motor swap is mostly for people who want to do it just to say they did so

BigNic, I'm not that kind of guy. I don't like showing off or showboating or whatever.

I have found many parts to build a good six, but not cheap. I found a performance short block for about 4 grand to give you an idea. Sixes aren't always the cheapest to mod. Yes, it doesn't take much to get it to 350 horses, but to go much further, things start getting real expensive. Do some research on craigslist for z28's, and see what's out there first. you might even find a guy wanting to trade one for a V6, I've seen a few of those ads where I'm at. Browsing on craigslist is free, so that is always a great place to start.

I see. Craig's list is where I got my Camaro in the first place. That site has everything. I'll take a gander down there.

Sorry to bump...and double post, but if I were to swap in a V8, which would be better, LS1 or LT1? The LS1, on paper seems to be the more powerful of the two. A saw a '95 Z28 (it was said in the ad to have an LS1, but I thought LS1 weren't introduced in the Camaro until '98) for sale for $2900, but the car looked in bad shape (cosmetically, especially the interior) and the engine has over 200k miles.

ls1 is 98 and after the LS1 is a better starting point but if you have 93-97 6er you gonna need a cowl hood to get it in there becuse while the LS1 is overall smaller its a little taller... if you have a 98-02 6er and are gonna do the swap do a LS1
