Im having problems with my engine skipping... i have a 96 3.8... My dad told me it was probabloy the fuel filter... its skipping very bad, sometimes the car shakes soo bad when it does it that everything rattles.... wat do yall think is the problem?

 

Could be plugs, wires, coils, ignition control module, injectors, cat, etc... Is the service engine soon light on?

 

no, there arent any lights on... everything runs normal execpt for the skipping...

 

when you say the engine is "skipping" do you mean missing? if so when does it do it? all the time, acceleration, deceleration, when braking?

 

no SES light?
means it isnt a misfire(plugs anyway) or o2 sensor.. check fuel system. filter, injectors, rails, etc.

is the ENGINE skipping? does it only do it under a load? if you're standard, could be a slipping clutch, no?

 

Just because there is no SES light doesnt mean its not an electrical misfire. Id still start with plugs n wires.

 

ok... im not 100% sure that what its doin is skipping... its like the engine starts to loose power and the car starts shaking really bad and sometimes it feels like it is goin to choke down on me... it does it at different times, sometimes in idle sometime at 35 and sometimes at 60, it never does it at the same time each time.
