Engine Rebuild
Alright I have a 94 Camaro 3.4L V6. This is my first time to post here...I usually just read for info but I have a couple problems. It seems to take a couple, few second cranks to get it to start up even after being run for a while and only shut-off for even 10 min. And I have a small oil leak that seems to be coming from a rear seal. I drive about an hour or 2 every day to get to work and back and I usually have to put in a quart a week. Now..after talking to a mechanic, he told me that It might be an Intake Manifold gasket that needs to be replaced to fix the oil leak which he said would be a bit of a job and that the Fuel pump might need to be replaced which he said would be slightly costly also. Now I plan on getting both problems fixed around January. BUt I was hoping to get some advise from you guys. Should I have the engine completely rebuilt with new seals and gaskets and possibly get new headers and cams considering I already have a Nice CAI and a Magnaflow exhaust system. What else should I possibly add during the rebuild? Or should I even have it rebuilt at all? Any info on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Engine Rebuild
depends on how many miles you have on it. i would'nt worry so much about the performance parts on a v-6 but, theres nothing like freshly bored cylinders to make it run like new. Sick

There is a good chanche that the oil pump drive gear, which replaced the distributor in yor engine, is leaking where it sits on the intake manifold. Needs to be pulled out and resealed with RTV.

Yes, and for your money, you would be better off buying a remanufactured short block for your Camaro. The cost of getting it bored, honed, new pistons installed, everything rebalanced, and so fourth would be marginal with the cost to buy a reman short block.
