Default engine out the top or bottom

I am replacing motor for a buddy and was wondering what the better way is to pull the motor from the top or drop the sub frame?

From what my mechanic told me was dropping the sub-frame and takin the engine out under the car not from the top. Don't know how difficult it is either way seeing how he won't touch my car lol, I wanted to replace my engine with an LT1 and he said...NO WAY!!! go figure

Having never done it on a late model Camaro, just by looking it seems like it would be much easier to go out the bottom.

I am doing a swap with taking out my 3.4L and adding a LS1 and everyone has told me that you have to take it out the bottom of the car. Just lift it up and drop the sub frame suspension and all and let it down and then lift the body up over the engine and pull it out.

See the sticky in the LT1 section on how to remove engine from bottom.
