electrical issue
Hey, new to forum, but have been looking at posts for bout 2 months now. never had to ask anything till now but i'm stumped and getting frustrated. I bought a 96 camaro rs from a friend a few months back everything working fine, took it to VIP for tires and suddenly my brake lights stopped working( coincidence...maybe). I've replaced all the bulbs, the brake light switch and checked the fuses all normal, although the former bulbs had anti-corrosive crap put on them. After replaceing the brake light switch, got frustrated so i went back to the bulbs and the anti-corrosive stuff was caked on althoughtout the bulb housing. I tried to clean it out the best i could but i couldn't get it all out and they still don't work along with the right turn signal. The left one works and it's not caked all on the inside. Could this be my problem or is it more likely a ground and if so where is the grounds on that. I can do some mehcanical work but when it comes to the electrical system i don't have a clue.

RE: electrical issue
first thing U need to do is buy a cheap test light. Use something to press the brake pedal, then usingthe test light, check to see if you are getting power to the socket. If theres no power there, start at the fuse box. See if there is power to that fuse, taking for granted that U have checked to see that the fuse is good. If your not getting power to that circuit, theres your problem.

RE: electrical issue
OK i checked everything that i could and know of. I am getting power to the socket, and my running lights come on but still no brake lights. I have the middle third brake light working so it's not the switch. And the weird thing is the bulb goes in both ways. One way it's really dim and light's up one of the prongs on the light bulb and putting it in the other way makes the other one light up very bright. Both only work with the running lights on. Took it to my mechanic and he messed around with it a lil and couldn't figure it out. i'm goin back monday but figured i'd see if anyone knew anything that could help before i pay him to look at it again.

RE: electrical issue
2057's right? Auto zone gave me them, and i don't really trust anyone at auto parts stores so i checked myself and everything seems to say that's right. I drove it last night and found that the way i put it in lite up the brake light and kept it on. The other way's for my daytime running light. I changed it around, so now i'm just missing my brakes not lighting up.
