Default ECU tuning

I'm looking for an inexpensive device for downloading and re-flashing my ecu through the ODBII port. I have a stock 2001 V6 RS. Will any j2534-1 or J2534-2 passthrough device work? Has anyone tried a Multi-Diag 2534 passthrough device? Very confusing info out there. What about WinFlash software? What interface is required for it? Just to clarify I'm looking for software to flash the ecu not tuning software. Thanks in advance for your help.

Has anyone purchased a Mult-Diag J2534? If so, does it work? Can you look at the software and see if 2001 V6 Camaro is supported?

May I ask why? If you want to tune the car just get HP tuners and have someone who knows what their doing tune it.

The license to do so would not be worth it. I am not 100% sure but I think you need a software like HP tune. Maybe you can find someone local that has the software? I know of a local youtuber that makes money by just buying ECU from junk yards and unlocking them for people. unlocking a vin is one think the next step is buying credits so you can tune cars. I think you can buy the stand alone hand held units but if you buy them use they may already be keyed to another VIN and it would be useless for you.

As a general rule I think you need license software to do much on these PCMs. I think some scanners will let you change tire size and stuff like that but there is no simple work around a locked Vin. There is new stuff software popping up all the time. If you find a way please post back here.
