So I have a kinda dumb question about the car audio, how many speakers are in a '98 Camaro?

I'm looking to buy a new head unit because i'm pretty sure mine is about to die. It doesn't even playback cds anymore.

 

Also, what would you recommend for a good deck? Thanks!

 

pretty sure there 6, 2 in the front, 2 in the side back seats, and 2 in the trunk on the sides. I would reccomend a apline or a pioneer. But thats just me.

 

Depending upon what you have for a stock system, Bose or just stock. Im thinking its the stock which has 6 1/2 in the doors, and 6 1/2 in the passenger compartment. This is what I have done.

Deck is a Sony 54X4 with 3X outputs. it has great features like 7 sound configurations along with an option to move the sound of your speaker location. Either floor, doorpanel or dash.

I am running two amps. JL 250 mono with one Sony 12" 1200 W sub.
Kenwood 600W running the two 8" JBL dual voice coil subs that
are where the 6 1/2 were in the passenger area.

Front Speakers are two 3 1/2" Boston Acoustic 3 way that are rated for 150W. I changed the fronts because they were from an old vehicle and sound unreal. I just made a template from 1/4" steel and siliconed the speaker to the steel to avoid any vibration. Sounds great, could sound much better. Its by no means a comp system, but pounds.

 

most likely, you have 6 speaker, and a HU can only do 4 speakers, unless you series wire both back speakers, making the 2 left 8 ohms, and the 2 right 8 ohms, were the front 2 will be 4 om each.

 

i only have 4 speakers in my 98, all 6.5's i swapped my stock **** into some 120 watt speakers nd a kenwood deck
