Default cooling problem

so my 3.8 camaro is running really hot.. i noticed the fans wont turn on unless i use the a/c. i replaced the relay but still no luck and i was told to replace the cooling fan switch but i cannot find one anywere.. do the fans even have one?... also i heard that the temperature censor controls both the gauge and tells the pcm when to turn on the fan?
