Default coolant problem

i have a 93 3.4 i just replaced the thermostat cause it was overheating just sitting there after a while and the water pump wasnt leaking. I then took off the radiator cap and started the engine and coolant started to come out of the top of the radiator i was just wandering what the h@#@ the problem could be since i=there is no coolant getting to the block or what

Did the car overheat after you replaced the thermo? Not knowing all the details nor alot of info from your original post but that is a sign of blown head gasket pressurizing your coolant system.

just saying, could be a symptom of a head gasket needing replaced but without knowing if there are SES light on, codes, has the coolant system been flushed, bled, radiator clean, fans working, etc. that is only a symptom and might not be your problem. However, if the engine is cold, your rad cap removed, radiator topped off and after a few minutes of running engine, coolant starts bubbling and blows out over the top of the radiator neck, then very well could be a leaking head gasket.

If your car is running and the thermostat is open coolant will normally come out of the radiator, if you take the cap off.

Is your car still overheating? Does it consume coolant? Does it have any white smoke (that may smell sweet)?

Have you installed a Flush Kit, and flushed it? If anyone has ever used stop leak products, that could have clogged up the works, in which case try a Super Flush fluid. All sold at Wally Mart.
