Default Connector under dash

Hey I just got a 2002 camaro, v6, 5-speed. I was checking out the car, and i noticed a plug for something underneath the steering wheel / under the dash. It resembles a computer connector, but does anyone know what it's for? Thanks.

Its a port used to get Diagnostic troible codes.incase ur check engine lite,check gauges lite or absinop lite goes on,its this port whr a hand held device is plugged in to get the codes for troubleshooting
