Well a filter is just a filter... An intake is an entire air intake system with tubing AND filter to optimize the induction of cooler air. You can get a cold air intake WITH a K&N filter. K&N isnt really the best filter, just the biggest name. A CAI will just reroute your intake to pick up cooler air with a better filter.

In your case, with a 2000 Camaro... A Whisper Lid and a Fast Toys Ram Air would be what you wanna shoot for.

If you don't know what those are, do a little research. Also... You might wanna do a little research on intake systems...

Yes he is right. Every air intake system has a filter. K&N make filters and Cold Air Intake systems. Sometime people just want the K&N FILTER for gas mileage bcuz some people claim it increases mpg's. Now when you want hp, you want what evilkal said, or my case, K&N CAI. Its got a tube and the filter with it. It claims 18hp at 5000 rpms and idk if its really 18hp, but i can really feel it around 5000rpm, right before it shifts.

I have been less than impressed with K&N filters and intake options. SLP has better of both. Yes I have used both from both companies.

the 2000 already has a pretty good air intake, go with what evil says, the best way to get the most hp gains. if your not planning on more mods like headers a tune at a place like pcmforless or lt1pcmtunig would be a good next step.

I would love to have new cold air intake to get a boost on my engine, any brands would do since they always function the same the only difference is the price.
