If you are still deciding, just build your own. Really the most simple DIY mod you can do... Measure the throttle body to figure out diameter of it, then buy a filter with the same size opening, and you can get the tubing from home depot, lowes, menards, as well as the fittings. Like $10-$15 tops for the parts besides the filter.

On my 3.4 I only am using one elbow, off the throttle body. Do away with the stock intake if any of the inside of it is not smooth. That accordion stuff slows air waaay down.

And if you want a true CAI, you can route the pipe outside of the engine bay completely. I did not, I am too chicken something will hit my $50 filter So I am just building a wall out of sheet metal to block it off from the rest of the engine bay.

You can prime and paint it if you choose. I'm not, I might try to polish the aluminum pipe on mine, but that will be it.

Thats basically all i will be doing on my 97 3.8. I live in the uk and performance parts are hard to find over here or very expensive to buy from u.s and import so i will be using a k&n n off a large engined car that we do have here (bmw 535i for example) and making my own induction from stainless piping. Should give the same, if not better gains of an upgraded panel filter and slp intake (which from what i can make out is just a smooth empty airbox lid) Please correct me if im wrong.

Anything can be made to fit anything with a bit of ingenuity. As said before stay away from cheap ebay copies as they arent made to high standards such as k&n are, and will more than likely restrict power and clog up very easily. From what i understand short, smooth straight as possible pipework is the best way to get lots of air quickly into your engine to maximize power potential of an air filter. The only limitations are under the hood space and airflow to filter as it needs an unrestricted amount of cold air.

Yes it will. You might have to put in a small section of tubing because you don't have a maf.

The 3.4 and LT1 kits come only with the tubing since they already have the elbow that fits. So he'll only need the intake and filters.
