Clutch issues...
Alright guys here's, yet, another clutch thread. So I've driven 3 other v6 Camaros besides mine and the clutch on them always feels so much better than mine. It's kind of hard to explain but when I'm pushing my clutch down I can't feel in engaging (when the car is off). When I'm in theirs and I push the clutch down, I can actually feel the difference half way through pushing it down. Like pushing it down I feel resistance for the first part of pushing it down, then it's pretty easy to push down. Mine it seems like there's the same amount of resistance all the way to the floor, which is about medium. They're has a lot of resistance and then hardly any halfway down. Mine has not nearly as much resistance as theirs. Also my clutch slips... I was about to do a burn out today and I ran my rpm's up to 3500 and dumped the clutch and all I got was high rpm's and the car took off really really slow. Then as it got moving the rpm's dropped down to about 2000 and then the car took off fast. I could smell something burning right after this happened. So this is my question: Is it time for a new clutch??? And if so, should I get a stage 1 or 2 clutch rather than a factory style one since I race my car around town a lot???

I have read thread for people that where unhappy with the spec stage two. I can not imagin the spec stage 1 is any better. Look for a center force duel friction clutch. I am not sure if they make one for the 3.4 but I have one in my 3.8 and I am loven it. Stock feel with 90% more holding power then the OEM.

Any idea what website I should look at?? What brands are good for clutches? I've never done anything with drivetrain before so yeah I'm kinda clueless. I know if I do replace the clutch, I want something that will out last the motor in my car (its at 180xxx). I do a lot of street racing and stuff too. A lot of burn outs. I need a STURDY clutch. Recommendations? Websites? Thanks!!

yea it sounds to me like you are in need of more than just a clutch. When you get uneven feel in the petal of a stock clutch then it is most likely the slave or master that is getting worn out. I would budget for them too.

Well it's their pedals that feel uneven. Mine feels the same all the way to the floor. Same amount of resistance from the top to the bottom. Theirs have a lot of resistance from the beginning to halfway through the stroke then it's very easy to push down after that. Kind of like a nice bow and arrow, if that makes sense...

If your petal is solid all the way through you should be good with the hydraulic side of the clutch. I have never driven a new car that had uneven clutch petal travel, not even new Corvettes with dual load pressure plates.
