Who told you it was neither OBD1 or 2??? It has to be one or the other..... No one here is going to be able to help you. There are MANY different reasons for the check engine light to come on. Is it running ok? Does it act different when the light comes on?

It's either obd 1, 1.5, or 2. If it was obd 2, you could take it to autozone for a free scan. But since you don't, you will need to buy a scanner that is compatible with your car.

3.4 of that year should be the bastard setup OBD-1.5. OBD-I system w/ OBD-II connection port. Nobody on here (that I know of) has internet ESP, so we wouldn't be able to say anthing about the light, except that it could be a multitude of things.

I don't autozone will scan 1.5. You need a different scanner for it. I have a scanner with connectors that can scan all three, but autozone only seems able to scan obd 2.

well even if you have to pay $50 to get it done, youre better off, its better to fix the problem now before it gets worse

i know its obd 1.5 and it runs great. i run 93 octane i just finished cleaning the hell out of the intake manifold and its running like butter. it goes on and off. the low oil light flips on as well but flips off. i had a friend check my car for oil leaks and check the oil pump but it is all fine. the engine never runs different when the light come on.

my car used to run good when the check engine light flashed on and off. the problem for me was a crank sensor but your problem can be whatever especially since you have no idea where to begin. any symptoms your noticing?

the only thing that seems out of the ordinary is the fact that when i take it out of gear, it stays at like 2000rpms for a few seconds and only happens sometimes(mostly when the ses light is off).
