Changing Head Gasket, Is coolant drain from engine a must?
I've been trying to remove the drain plug from the engine (95 3.4 v6) for a while now and cannot get it out. I've tried the PB Blaster a few times and have had no luck. Can you still change the head gasket without draining the engine? Or anyone else have similar problems that can help? Thanks.

You don't have to drain the coolant from the block. I would disconnect the lower radiator hose first to drain what does, and then yank it all apart. Be sure to change your oil after you're done, cuz a little coolant will make it's way into the oil pan.
And here's a trick to catch internal coolant debris after you're all done. Get an old pair of nylons from your mom (or from you're own sock drawer if you're into that kinda thing). Remove your upper radiator hose at the radiator. Drape the nylon over the radiator neck and put the hose back on. After your first run and cool down, remove the upper hose and the nylon and put the hose back on for good. The nylon works for a great filter, and you'll be surprised to see just how many little pieces of crap you'll catch.
