somewhat hot..!
well it was somewhat hot, this is SoCAL, around 100F is pretty common...! but the last time it refused to start, it was under a tree (still around 95F though)..! what was the problem with urs? is it hard to replace the CPS myself?

I actually never found the problem with mine, it just got better. xD
I replaced a few things, like the gas cap and got a new air filter. After those replacements, it hasn't died on me. People were telling me it could have been a fuel pump issue, but you can hear when your pump is going bad.
I think when it comes down to it, something just shorted out when it got hot in mine, but who knows if that is what is wrong with yours.

can any of you guys tell me how to replace the crankshaft posi. sensor? or twhere to find how to do it? And is it possible to check if its actually bad????
thanx a lot.

I think you just need to get your hands dirty and figure it out! The sensor itself is relatively inexpensive, checked autozone, it said $47. I found this by GOOGLING "CPS on camaro". Sometimes, all it takes is a google search...

As far as the Crankshaft position sensor on the 3.4L...
It actually has 2;
One is a 3X Crankshaft position sensor and is located on the passenger bank of the engine. If you go down the side of the engine block from the number 3 exhaust port, you will be right behind the compressor and right in front of the starter. There will be a sensor held into the block with one bolt. That is the 3X CPS. It sits almost right below the knock sensor. The 3X CPS provides a signal through the electronic ignition control module which the ECM uses as reference to calculate RPM and crankshaft position.
The second is a 24X CPS. It is located on the front engine cover and is held in by 2 bolts. If you look at about the 2 o'clock position of the harmonic balancer, you will see the sensor with its wire leads coming off of it. The 24X CPS is used to improve idle spark control at engine speeds up to approximately 2000 RPM.
Both are relatively easy to access so removal/installation shouldn't be too difficult, but I have never had to get into it myself.
There you have it. The 3.8 is probably similar, but i'm new to camaros, so i dunno.

CKS sensor in 3.8
ok, so i had it changed by a tech, he knew my father and charged only 60$, and now the problem is solved, this is after about 2 months (well i hav som other problems now lol)
the CKS sensor is under the crank, you can reach the connector from under the car, but you need to take the crank out to replace it. I bought the sensor for around 30$ from pepboys I think, but you need a puller to take the crank out if you are going to do it urself. hope this helps som1 out there.

should be at the front of the motor by the harmonic balancer. pick up a factory service manual for your yr and model. by the way what yr is it?
