can you ID this sensor for me please?

Yeah, IAC. It's a little reversible DC stepper motor. The PCM operates it to run the tip (pintle) in and out in small increments (steps) to control how much intake air can bypass the throttle plate.
When you first turn the key to run the PCM runs the pintle out until the stepper motor stalls. Then it backs it out a certain number of steps for engine startup. The PCM actually counts and keeps track of the IAC pintle position and usually shows the number of steps on a scan tool.
Hook the removed IAC up to the wiring harness and turn the key to run to see.
