can smell gas
I started my car this morning and it was prolly like 5 below or so. It started right up and seemed fine. I let it warm up for about 10 minutes, and then started driving. About 10 miles down the road, i could smell gas only when i would slow down and drive like below 30 mph. Then when ipoped the hoodtherewas some smoke coming out and gas dripping underneath. What would the problem be. Is the fuel pump in the tank? Or could it just be a hose? Thanks
I'm not sure where the fuel pump on your car would be. But I wouldn't blame the pump. If the car is running fine the pump is probably not the issue. I would check the lines first. See where the gas is dripping from. That could save you from having to replace the fuel pump... and that can be a major pain in the ***
Ihad that problem with my truck never fixed it lol, on mine it was the fuel injectors, the O-Ring was old and cracked and would shoot gas out, when I pulled the throttle cable never smoked, jsut burned and dried out it dripped onto the ehaust manifold I was told it was fine but still dangerous in long drives, so maybe its the fuel injectors car ran fine too, smell of gas made it seem like I was the best driver too Hmmm wonder why lol.
I have a 1994 that had the same problem. Look into the fuel pressure test valve. Its located in the middle of the V where the air intake is at. Look between the V there is a small stim like the ones on A/C hoses. Thats where I had my leak. I also found out the there mave been recalls due to the fuel line. Hope this helps.
