Wow nice. Thanks for the help. I think ill replace my crappy ones. Too bad Gm couldnt have the new ones to start with, it would make spark plug replacement and compression testing much much easier.

If you are thinking of upgrading you will need the Y pipe. The newer manifolds are a lot shorter. I think in 99 your ok but I think the 96-97 had a O2 sensor before and after the Cat. So you would have to mod the Y-pipe. You just want to verify the O2 sensor are not going to be an issue. I was going to do the upgrade but I went with a set of stainless steel header. I just scrapped out the manifolds and Y pipe a few months ago.

Opps I forgot I think you need the EGR mount from the 02-00 also. The mount is different.

I wonder if there's any difference between those headers - as the '02 (w/o the heat shield) looks more like a set of shorty tubes rather than the cast manifold of the earlier ones.

In any case, the difference looks like a couple hundred between junkyard '02s vs. new OBX/Pacecetters.

You can get the manifold cheap the problem I have was the Junk yard where not allowed to sell the Y pipes cause they are concidered part of the Cat. I had to wait to find someone parting out a car to get the Y pipe.
