Well if you want the best performance, you'll extend that pipe all the way down to the air dam area where the air comes from. Then make a little plate that blocks off the engine heat from the air dam area. Just like the K&N CAI does. Basically the air filter can not be seen from under the hood of the car. You have to get under the car and remove the air dam to see the filter. Here's a pic of my K&N CAI. The SLP works the same way as mine. It goes all the way to the air dam area.
As for HP gain, you won't gain much. 1-3 at most I'd say. I've heard that the real gain is in the MPG's when you do a decent CAI.

HARDABS05 all the hard work will be worth it when you're driving it this summer!

so got the car towed and this happend
i dont know why but i hooked the tow rope up the the sway bar and it snapped clean in half
So i removed the spark plugs also learned how hard the passenger side is to get too but anyways i found how rich the car is running
all the black soot on there not to sure about the picture quality though also i shortened up my cai finally getting the filter to were it should set at

It's supposed to be way down there. You're not supposed to be able to see the filter at all.
