Brake Light Problem

yes it could be in the abs, from camaro69's post and from what ive read from him he knows his stuff.

The "Brake" light in the dash has NOTHING to do with monitoring your brake tail light bulbs.
If it isn't because of your emergency brake, then it means there's something wrong with your braking system...air, a leak, faulty component, etc.

Camaro 69, the brake light will come on when a brake light is out? I've had this happen to me twice. Once was a third break light bulb, and then a right side break light buld. Both times the brake light came on, changed the bulbs and it went off.

If that's the way 4th gen's are, then I sit corrected. I do know that 1st and 2nd gen's don't have that capability. And as far as I remember, neither did my 3rd gen. I've also had a couple 4th gen's. But to be honest, I don't remember having a tail light go out to have it happen. Could be it's in conjunction with the 3rd brake light technology? Regardless, that's not this guy's problem anyway!

Ok so I have ruled out a leak, because brake fluid level has been the same for a week or more now. I have checked brake lights their fine. The whole spring popping noise makes me think it is a faulty component. I have also checked to see if E brake works and it does and brakes feel the same as ever. Ok I am sure I didn't mention this before, but the brake fluid was very low ( maybe a 8th of the reserviour was full when I filled it up) could me pushing the brakes so hard make air get into the lines because of lack of brake fluid? Also the brake fluid was pretty containmenated, could that be cause of it? I will bleed brakes as soon as I get a chance (pretty busy with life atm). Maybe the mechanical spring popping noise was coincidence.

Is it possible that your fluid was always that low? While stopping the car, the fluid in the reservoir may have sloshed forward enough for you to suck in some air....maybe. As long as the brakes are working OK now, I would bleed the entire system and see what you get.

Yes thats what I was trying to say is that I think my fluid as been low forever and I have never had to do a hard brake so even though I was at a complete stand still I think me braking that hard may have put it over the edge. I will bleed them first chance I get.
