Default ALARM

Here's the problem. A little over 2 weeks ago, my neighbor smacked into my camaro while it was parked infront my my house. Destroyed the left side of the car. Because of the impact, my alarm went off. $4500 later (of course the neighbor's insurance paid) I get my car back. Looks beautiful! New paint job, New headlight, detailed... as if it just came out of the showroom. So, I drive it home, I get it into my drive way and set the alarm as I walk into my house. About an hour or so later, my alarm is going off. Of course its a natural reaction to go run outside to see whats going on (i just got my baby back. I'm over protective). So, nothing happened. No one was there. Nothing hit my car to set it off. So, I reset it and armed it again. The alarm chirps twice. I didn't press any buttons or anything. Every 3 seconds, it will chirp twice then it will go off again.

So, now I can't arm the alarm without it going off on its own. I don't think my mechanic needed to touch the battery or anything associated with the alarm to fix what was broken. I'm thinking maybe somehow the whole alarm system needs to be reset after the accident. I could be wrong but hopefully I'm not and it's something simple. Thanks for reading and and your help in advance.

I think with an alarm there are various sensors placed in the car. one of those may have been messed up aftter the accadent. I'd take it in and have it checked out. you could probaly have his insurance pay for that as well.

Was it hit near the hood or where ever there may be a pin switch? It could be broke. Depending on what needed to be done the battery could have been disconected. Sometimes in the body shop a door may be needed left open so the battery would either go dead or be disconected. Does your radio still have its presets?

The first thing I've noticed was the presets on the radio was still the same. The fender and bumper got smacked. So, I got the fender, bumper, suspention, and tierod replaced. The only sensor I know of is in the trunk thats visible. It's a 98 if that helps in anyway.

if its the factory radio on the monsoon the presets dont reset when unpluged. there is sensers in the latches.(currently replacing) my alarm only beeps once sometimes so one of the door sensers are bad or hatch.im guessing that could be one of ur probs.
