This might sound like a stupid question but...I have a 93 3.4L Camaro, and I was on E yesturday so I put 20$ of gas in it...and I got over 3/4 tank full of gas. Then...I drove 84 miles today and Now I'm on E again...Is this normal!? Am I leaking gas or something? Can someone help me with this one?

 

I dont know, but i have a 97 Camaro 3.8, and my gas gauge is messed up too i think, i put three gallons in, and it says i have a half tank?!

 

hmm, so Idk what to do? Should I keep driving it until the gas light goes on? Then fill it up? idk.

 

Bad fuel pressure sensor or the actual gauge in the cluster is bad.

 

camaros gas tanks are weird. kinda like a \/ shape, so the more and more you put in, the gas gauge wont move as much. so like 3 gallons may give you a half of tank but it still holds 15.5......

 

Happens to me too... kinda. I'd be on E, put $10 worth of gas in (just over 3 gallons) and my gauge would show that I'm 1/3rd or even 3/5th full. And yea, as blu said, I've noticed that the gauge moves faster on the empty side than on the full side. I'd fill up to the full, and drive for like 5 days with the gauge showing that im over 1/2 full and then the other supposed "half" would run out in like 2-3 days.

Just a little FYI guys...don'trun yourtank level down so far, try to keep it no lower than a 1/4 tank. The fuel pump is an electric motor, and the gas in the tank actually has a cooling effect on the motor. Keeping the gas level way low just makes the pump run hotter, and motors that run hotter wear out sooner!

 

Yeah I've noticed that when I fill up I get at least 200 miles before i'm at half a tank.. then I only get about 100 miles from half to empty.

 

If I am correct, the tank on my 99 holds 16.9 gallons.
