Question 97 Camero 3.8

Hi guys i have a 97 Camero 3.8 liter that was running fine this morning after getting breakfast drove on to the highway and was doing about 65 70 and she died on me. I can turn the motor with a wrench so not locked up put will not start now. Now you can say it could be the starter but why would the motor die if the starter go's out? Motor just stalled out. I have had the car for 8 years and been running great.
She has 181k and does not smoke or leek oil. Can some one help?
Maybe the fuel pump whet out. but why does the car not turn over going to check the start too.

Does the battery have any power? If you drove the car till the battery was dead it would die then not restart. It also be anyone of a dozen electrical failures. we will need more details about what works and what does not work.

You could just check to see if you had power going to the starter. Just a test light on the small wire going to the start. If it does not light your problem is upstream. If it lights pull the starter.

ok found out the security systems went into Ihack mode and kill the car because of a bad battery and the starter is going out. Have to tap the starter with a hammer and it starts right up. thanks guys for any help you may have giving me. Also put a new battery inn and reset the security.

you should have the alternator tested to make sure its working. if the battery went dead it had nothing to do with the starter unless theres a short in the starter wire. i think you would notice that.
