Default 95 Camaro weight reduction tips?

I want to do a weight reduction on my camaro which is a 3.8L v6 and I would like to know what things I could pull that are useless. I want to keep the interior looking factory and keep a/c that way it still appears as a daily driver etc. But there are specific parts I'm sure could be pulled and the car would still function.

One item in question is a support beam that runs from the drive shaft up to the transmission that I've noticed. Is it needed or can I remove it? It looks as if its just a heavy piece of metal that is out of place IMO. Opinions and tips on what I can pull, thanks.

You can't do much to reduce the weight of the car. Merely their are smaller things that can help you a little bit like choosing some light weight seats, less weighted bumpers, light weight alloys and try to find aluminum parts instead of steel. Why you want to do that, it's such a powerful car already, instead try some tuning for your car.

^ Well yeah, if you want to "gut" the car strictly for the strip. But the guy wants to keep the stock interior, air conditioning, etc., and just get rid of the "extra" weight that GM stuffed into the car just for the heck of it. Didn't you know about the very last stop at the GM assembly line, the useless weight department.

The useless weight department installed the AC, power windows, and power seats

Actually the power windows are usually lighter because they don't need all the levers and rods that manual windows need. And he still wants to keep the AC, so when he is done changing out the seat, the car will probably loose 50 lb.

I dunno Pete, there's been people that have gone through a lot of work just to swap over. The regulators for the manual windows are just stamped steel if I remember right.

I've got a ton of weight pulled out of my car, with all the turbo crap and 9" under it, it weighs about 100lbs less than it did stock, still pulling stuff off too. This winter it's getting Burkhart front and rear bumper supports, was going to do Kirkey seats (can't, the class I want to race in says no aluminum showing on the interior), so it'll get Poly seats and Ed Quay brackets, Ozite carpet for sure. HVAC removal and 8-point bar. Looking into a speedglass rear window also.

But yeah, there's no "useless" weight really to removed, I mean, leather power seats obviously, but other than that it's all a pain in the neck. My car is on it's way to becoming a street legal drag car, not a street/strip car. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do to get into the 10's.

Pull your spare tire/jack, and get a aluminum driveshaft -- that's a start. I wouldn't go silly with weight reduction in a 3.8L -- pointless, IMHO for a daily driver.
