My 95 6cy cranks but won't start unless I give it a shot of starting fluid, then it starts right up and runs great. If i turn it off, it will not restart unless i give it another shot. Any thoughts?

change the fuel filter to start with. dump the contents of it into a clear container so you can look to see if its got water or gunk in it. check fuel pressure. then try turning the key on without turning to the start position, let the fuel pump cycle then turn it off. turn the key on again and again wait for the fuel pump to shut off. do that three of four times before trying to start the car. if it starts right up its either the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator.
