sounds like lifter tick... change your oil (do it yourself and use quality oil) and your serpentine belt sounds like it might need to be checked too.

well when i first stared hearing this, i put lucas oil in it, did a little, made it a bit quieter. if it makes a difference, i took off the belt and it still made the noise. by the way this only happens when its hot

Sure sounds like lifter tap to me. You can try some sea foam to clean out the motor some. My wifes mini van has a 3.4 and 100K the lifter noise comes and goes. If it seems to be only when its hot you might try a little heavier oil. 10W40?

You should check your oil pressure with a manual gage. If the oil pressure is droping hot it could be your problem. Heavier oil might help the oil pressure.

actually today i just changed the oil and i put 20w-50 in it to make sure it was heavy and i drove it all day and it seems to be fine. i probably will put some sea foam in it, just to make sure everything is good.
