Default 3800 hp question

I have a question about the 3800 series 3 I've read on here that the 3800 series 3 has more hp than than series 2 but I've read on other places that it has the same exact amount so my question is does it have more hp and if so why?

3800 Series II N/A was rated at 205 HP and 230 lb*ft of torque. The S/C version was 240 HP and 280 lb*ft of torque, respectively.

3800 Series III N/A was rated at 200 HP and 230 lb*ft of torque. The S/C version topped out at 260 HP and 280 lb*ft of torque, respectively.

Although there isn't too much of difference as far as stock power went, the Series III engine is still all around better. The N/A versions got aluminum intakes and the intake ports were enlarged from 1.80" to 1.83". Electronic throttle control was also featured. The rods were also a stronger powdered metal compared to the cast iron in the Series II.

For the naturally aspirated version, yeah. But it's only 5 horsepower. The Series III makes up for that tiny difference in the better parts it has.

The only 3800 that I know of that is listed at 205 HP is the SLP RS and that was because of bolt ons. All other 3800 S2 motors are listed at 200hp. Remember the HP rating is the max power the motor will output but if you can get the torque curve earlier people will feel it. Example; in 99 GM switch to a tubular exhaust manifold on the 3800. These was NO change to the max HP but the car was more responsive earlier and was slightly faster.

Just to keep thing accurate the 3800 S2 had alumin. Upper and lower intakes also. Since you can not use the FWD intake on the Camaro ( it faces the wrong way) the size upgrade should not be taken into account on your Camaro swap.

series 3 is a better motor and will respond to mods better then the 2.
