3.8 spark plug change

RE: 3.8 spark plug change
Remove the front wheel and try from underneath the car. When you finally get them out, put in a set of double platinum/irridium plugs, so that you won't have to go through it again for at least 100K miles. Due to the "waste spark ignition" used in your car 3 of the plugs will fire the normal way (center to side) while the other 3 will fire backwards (side to center). So you need both the side electrode and the center electrode to be platinim/irridium tipped. AC 41-101

Holy hell getting those plugs out is the most awfull time- the wires are just as bad, if not worse. They put them in the most inconvient place known to man- If I ever have to get new plugs and wires I am going to take 'er somewhere.

Follow Z28Pete's advice and make sure you get the irridium plugs. They are pricy at around $6 each but they will save you money in the long run. My 3.8 V6 would throw a cylinder midfire code about every 6-8 months and everytime it was the plugs. I always took in to a shop to get them replaced and they always put cheap plugs in so I kept having the problem. Finally when I had the same thing happen this summer, someone told me to get the irridium plugs for it. Hopefully I won't have to worry about it again for a while. I've probably spent $500 in the last two years just getting them replaced.
