Default cylinder heads

since this is my very first camaro how difficult would cylinder heads for the 3.8 be to find .should this be the problem.( im hoping its just the head gasket) and can i trust rebuilt heads from autozone or oreilly should it come to that.

Heads are very easy to find. Any junk yard should be able to hook you up.

The 3800 runs with an ICM (Ignition Control Module) and 3 coil packs, Toneman7. No distributor.

I doubt you've cracked a head on these engines, especially if it's a newer casting number from the 98 cars. Check on the head gasket and your miss still won't be because of that.

Do not replace heads, reseal lower intake, purchase a new upper intake.Get new plugs and wires. When you remove plugs crank motor over to get all water out of cylinders.More than likely its just the upper intake.Look at front of intake to see if can see an external leak.Important to get new intake. And of course change oil etc etc.......This is a very common problem. You can purchase a new upper intake pretty cheap.

Oh yeah if you have water in oil its probley in your cylinders and it will cause a missfire. It may have also damged cat. but not likely. If it still runs its not that bad.

Lower intake gaskets are a weak point in these engines...before you buy stuff, probably want to tear it down to at least the lower intake gaskets. You might not need heads or head gaskets.

That is a real good deal concidering the amount of work. I had my wifes mini van's intake done and they charged like $550. I don't work on car unless I want to

Just to be clear. To check to see if the light is burned out just turn the key on without starting the motor. It should be on. When I said DIS system it was not short for Distributor. DIS= Direct Ignition System. Its a basic term used for any system with a coil hooked direcly to a plug. Kind of like EFI cover all non-mechanical fuel injection.
