RE: 3.8 Camaro Performance help
Okay, I think i am going to go with the flowmaster american thunder system, found it on http://www.lmperformance.com/2903/13.html. $315 with free shipping a pretty good price? I am kinda worried lol, I have not heard a flowmaster system in a loong time (back on a friends old 95 gt mustang) I know I love magnaflows sound, but you have to remove the rear lip, and the flowmaster one works with it so gotta make sacrifices lol. Anyone have it, like it hate it?

RE: 3.8 Camaro Performance help
I have a V6 3800 1996 Camaro, and it's the same thing when you ask guys on motor forums for help on power suggestions. "Get/SWAP a V8!" And as we know, that is light years easier said that done, so it's kind of funny. Especially when it's a guy with a 1977 Camaro 305 talking. You know, one pushing about 160 horsepower and running 17s. But hey, he has a V8, right? Don't mind those little 6 cylinders that are capable of 300 horsepower. Pssh. I hate that response, it's so typical, even when you ask for opinions on certain parts and specifically state "I would prefer to avoid the swap a V8 helpless posts, please." and some yahoo doesn't read it but posts it anyways. I just get sick of the hate for the V6. Some people just can't grasp that you might want a daily driver that has great get up and go, but also will push high 20s MPG if you so desire.
I've only put a K&N filter and the American Thunder Flowmaster Catback on my car. I am tempted to pick up the SLP intake aside from it's power, it looks pretty damn cool in my opinion. I also am tempted by the Comp Cams Xtreme Camshaft they make for 3.8s, but then I just wonder how much I want to pour into the car. Or any car.
I have a Mustang 5.0 so I know about the V8s. And they have power. But if you choose to use that power full throttle the same as you do your V6, you gas mileage will hit mid teens easy. You can drive a V6 full throttle and keep up, even sometime out perform, with many "V8s" and still push low 20s.
Just my 2 cent rant.

Just don't expect it to sound like a V8 does, or your friends Mustang. The V8 has a unique sound, and while your Camaro with the Flowmaster exhaust will sound nice, the sound reminds me more of a European low rumble crossed with a muscular accent. If that makes any sense at all. It still sounds nice, and powerful, just not V8. BUT certainly not RICE or underpowered glass pack backfiring. I say go for it. It looks nice to. Everyone will ask you if it's a V8 lol
