Looking into upping the gears in my car, 2001 3.8 5 speed. My friend has 4.11's and gets about crap for gas mileage, what would i be able to expect for conservative driving with 3.42's? spirited driving? i know id have to have these proffesionally installed too, way out of my leauge, what would i be looking at cost wise roughly? Thanks all!

 

not much spirit in 3.42's. great for driving across country to visit grandma. Sick

 

i have 3.42's w/ LSD...i get 20-23 driving hard...but I have gotten like 27 on trip 75% highway

I had a cutlass with a really high ratio, very good acceleration but wouldn't recommend for high speed/daily driving

 

You may want to go with 3.55's. They should go good with the 5 spd and V6. 3.73's could work too, but, may a bit low for fuel mileage.
