3.4 running slow? heres some maintainance
I recently just did an oil change, I used Castrol GTX High Mileage 10w30 and a Quart of Lucas. I bought a K&N gold Oil filter and also got a new K&N air filter that i put on. I also used valvoline's synpower throttle body cleaner. I took a shop rag and stuffed it into the manifold after spraying on the TBcleaner. I have noticed a helluva noticable increase in torque/hp and responsiveness. Not saying slap on all this and you've got 20 extra HP but it's definately noticable. The K&N oil filter actually increased my oil pressure. The previous oil change I was using regular 5w30 Mobil 1 and a mobil 1 filter, they added some chemical flush that they ran through the engine and it takes all the gunk off cleans the cylinder walls nevertheless my 3.4 hated it. I think that it was too clean but with this Oil change the high mileage GTX and lucas is perfect. So i guess it was worth it to get the chem flush last oil change because this one is making up for it.
I raced an 86 Iroc Z 5 speed manual 305 and beat it just tonight. Im currently working on a total custom cold air intake using a cold air intake by K&N (not for a camaro) it was a display model at Advance Auto. I'm going to fab that up within the next few weeks.
I am thinking about getting my intake manifold ported and polished any idea on prices for that?
