2000 chevy camaro overheating issues

Default 2000 chevy camaro overheating issues

my 2000 chevy camaro keeps overheating i'm replacing the radiator monday due to a hole in the radiator, but i'm curious to what could have caused a hole in the radiator which is along the seam where the plastic and alluminum meet on the drivers side. i'm just worried about getting a new radiator and it happening again any ideas to prevent it?

age causes those little pin holes all the time. Make sure that when you get the new Rad in you need to make sure to keep the proper fluids in it to prevent corrosion and another pinhole in another 10 years maybe less.

one thing that can cause it is a failing head gasket.

another quick question, i have 3 aluminum lines that run to the radiator one that goes to the Frion tank and the other 2 i believe run to the transmission, when changing out the radiator the line on the passenger side of the radiator that goes to the frion tank does that have to be detatched to take the radiator out any one maybe could give me a little step by step instruction been to auto zone and advance nobody has my hynes manual for my car

also today when i tried to put water in the radiator i've noticed that it just poors out the bottom of the radiator, the car is not being driven right now, also when changing out the radiator should the hoses and thermistat be replaced also? I don't know much about cars considering being a chef normaly i take my car to a shop but trying to learn as i go and save some money

i think your seeing the ac lines going past the radiator or the heater hose, it has some aluminum parts to it. should be the trany fluid cooling lines on the passenger side and the rest looks like this

Once you start taking it apart, you will see that the A/C portion is a seperate piece. Once you remove the plastic pieces and the fans, the rad just slides down in the front. It was easier for me to lift it up a bit to clear the bracket it sits in and then lower it from the bottom of the car, car was up on jack stands. You should be able to remove the rad without detaching anything to the AC, only the tranny lines will need to be disconnected. Me personally, I would change the hoses for sure if they are 4 or 5 years old. I also replaced the clamps that are on the hoses with some clamps that I could tighten and loosen with a screwdriver. It is a PITA trying to get something in there to open those clamps up good enough to slide them in place. If the new rad does not come with a drain plug, you will need to get one and not rely on the one from the old rad. Not sure if they come with one or not.
