2000 Camaro Fuel Pump Issues?

2000 Camaro Fuel Pump Issues?
Hello All!
Back in May I purchased a 2000 Camaro for 2500. I thought I was getting a great deal (3300 blue book) but shortly found out this was not exactly the case. About a week later it would consistently die at stop lights while idling. I could start it back up without any problems so didn't think too much about it. I shortly thereafter replaced the K&N air filter with a regular one and also had the fuel filter replaced. This did not help at all. I later borrowed a friends computer and hooked it up to the car and got a Max Airflow Sensor code and replaced it. The car still had issues. It does not read any codes now. I had a friend hook up a fuel pressure gauge up to the car and it sometimes holds a constant pressure and sometimes it doesn't. So what I'm thinking is that it could be a fuel pump issue. I'm not too car savvy so correct me if I'm wrong but if it was the fuel pump wouldn't it break permanently instead of acting erratically? Also could this be an electrical issue? The other day the car shut off as I was driving around 20mph and has not started up since. Thanks for your help/suggestions!

Have your friend back over and check the fuel pressure again, after turning the key on to prime the fuel pump.
Btw, can you hear the pump run for a few seconds when the key is on? If you can, that still doesn't mean the pump is pumping strong, but if you can't hear it, you know either the pump or something electrical with it is bad.

Thanks! I will check to see if I hear it kick on tonight. Getting the gauge might take a while, it is now two hours away haha. I will check back tomorrow with the kick on info and if I need to still need one I will just buy one.

12 year old car and all it needed was a MAF and a fuel filter and now might need a fuel pump. That doesn't sound like a bad deal to me

Well last night I went to see if I could hear the pump kick on with the key in the on position but the battery had completely drained when I had the hazards turned on when it died a while back. I will have to get it charged up and try to test soon...
