Default 1997 3.8l 5spd driveshaft swap?

I want to shed the original two piece drive shaft in my 1997 3.8l 5spd. i might be able to get one from a 1993 pontiac firebird t/a with a ls1. any one know if i can do a direct swap from a two piece to a single drive shaft and which one will fit my 5spd. i hate carrier bearings and two piece drive shafts all together. stupid design if you ask me.

We just built a one piece shaft for a firebird today. Thats the best way to go. We reuse the origional tube yokes and fab a one piece shaft. Cut the carrier mounts off the torque arm if needed and it bolts right in.

was yours a 3.8l w/. 5spd, if so i would like to know the total length center of u-joint to u-joint. i would appreciate it if you had the demensions. it would save me time measuring from trans to diff. did you make it a slip yoke design or a straight tube.
