I have a 1999 and have been looking into it a lot and in my opinion what K&N has to offer for cold air sucks, yes its opened up, but its still right underneith the hood where there is little air movement and still sucking up hot or warm air from your engine, the one I went with and makes the most sense to me is the SLP cold air induction looks nothing like the regular cold air intake, but it redircts the air intake flow from infront of the radiator where that skid guard knocks air into the radiator, its colder air from outside the car, and not suckign air from the engine bay but the cool air moving under and into the car. But if your going to do it your going to need a new filter air box lid and so on to complete the entire air induction process but I believe it has better results, unless you did custom pipping to a open area where air fro mteh outside could get in.
