Default 1996 3.8L lifter tick

I'm not too worried about it, just curious if it's common among the 3.8's. At start up I have a small lifter tick and it goes away after the car gets warm. A guy I work with has a 95 that does the same thing. I had thought about trying some Lucas to see if it would help, but I'm really cautious before putting anything other than oil in the crankcase... And yes, I'm sure it is a lifter...

Thanks

Yes it's a problem. Most guys just leave it if it's quiet. As soon as it starts to get loud change it. If it's an oil additive for clean your fine but you generally need to change your oil that day. Lucas oils makes good products.

Just a little annoying at start up, but I'm the type of person who wants everything perfect! haha... like that'll ever happen. I heard the tick years ago when I purchased the car. Just made sure I change the oil every 3,000 miles or less and it hasn't gotten any worse after 10,000 miles.. Curiousity killed the cat, watch it crap out on me now!

The nice thing about roller lifters is that you only have to replace the bad roller not all of them. But if you have the money and want to replace them all. And when you do lube it up a little with fresh engine oil before instalation.
