Chaotic, there are just 2 coolant temp sensors. The one at the very front of the driver's side cylinder head (for the instrument cluster gauge only) and the one next to the thermostat housing. This second one sends info to the powertrain computer which uses it to handle fuel injection, cooling fan, and transmission functions. The only other temp sensor is the intake air temp one fitted to the duct ahead of the throttle body. Well, there is the transmission fluid temp sensor (94 and up) but that is inside the transmission pan.

Reliable Chevrolet told me that there were 3 of them. One of which, operates the temp gauge. One operates the fans. One send info to the computer to run the injectors.

If Reliable Chevrolet told you that they're not very reliable.

Got the sensor nearest the thermostat. If my daughter would ever get home with the car, I'll put it on and see if that's the problem.

that should be the correct one for coolant temp. you also should have an air temp sensor on the air intake that the computer uses. have your coils tested. a bad coil will do weird things. you have a obd1 ecu with a obd2 plugin. you can make a adapter for a obd1 scanner that will work on the 95. not the 94 though. lol. http://shbox.com/1/xraycable.jpg

Got a temp sensor and found it. They sure didn't make it easy to get to. I've got to figure out how to move the intake plenum to get to it. Sheesh

Wasn't the temp sensor. Went ahead and replaced the thermostat while I was in there. I think I will fork out the 75 buck or so for the OBD analysis. Then go from there.

Anyone with the '95 OBDI/II bastard try to do the jumper trick described in the Haynes manual with the OBDII connector?

If not temp sensor. Injectors are bad or hopefully just need cleaning. I sent mine off to a company call injector-rehab.com $27 bucks they came back running like they were brand new.
