Default 1995 Camaro dies at idle

I have a 1995 3.4L v6 camaro that I drive daily. Somewhere around December 2010 I got in the car, started it up and left my house. I made it about 1/8th of a mile and then my RPMs started jumping up and down. the Service Engine Soon light came on and the car stumbled a few times and died. I called my mechanic and he said to take it to AutoZone and let them scan for the codes.

On the way to AutoZone, the RPMs were going up and down and the engine would eventually die as long as my foot was not on the gas pedal. Sometimes when I would press on the gas, the car would go and then it would act like I took my foot off the gas, when I hadn't. At any stop signs or red lights I came to, the car felt like it was going to jump out into the road.

Now here's the freaky part...
On the way back from AutoZone, (they wouldn't scan it, they said it was too old) the SES light goes off and the car acts normal. It idles fine, accelerates fine, etc.
So I drive it 50 miles to school 3 days a week for four months and it runs fine.

But out of nowhere On May 18 it started doing it again. I took it to my mechanic, whom I trust, and it stopped doing it while idling in the yard.
I was able to drive it for about another month and it started doing it again. This time it hasn't stopped on its own, and it has my mechanic stumped.
I have replaced the throttle position sensor, and the MAP sensor.

So once again the engine will stumble and die while idling or going down the road as long as my foot is not on the gas pedal. Also sometimes while accelerating it acts like I took my foot off of the gas pedal when I didn't. while idling or moving down the road, the RPMs start to go up and down before the car dies. It seems as though the faster I drive the better it does.

I hope you Camaro gods will be able to help me with my problem.
Thanks

Check the IAC valve (Idle Air Control) and the electrical connector.

Update: My mechanic thinks it might be the computer or a wire going to the computer. What do you guys think?

Has your mechanic tested the IAC? Your mechanic, being that he is in the business of fixing cars, should be able to scan for codes, without you having to go to a parts store.

Yeah but he let someone borrow his scanner. That's why he wanted me to go there. Plus the auto parts store is closer to me than he is. The mechanic is fine. He's a family friend that I have known for a very long time. Honest man and good at his job. lol.

Just in case anyone is wondering, we found the problem. It had this chip (JET Performance 19514 - JET Stage 1 Computer Chips/Modules - Overview - SummitRacing.com) in it that had went bad. Took it out and all the problems were solved.
