1995 3.4L V6 - Showing Code 82, but I get spark
My Camaro won't start. It tries to turn over, has fuel pressure (not measured) and starts to run when ether is used.
We think the fuel injectors are no opening or firing.
Currently the check engine light is on and my reader shows code 82.
code 82 (ignition control 3x signal error)
Everything I find about those code says that I should not have spark?
Is this a false code? Could my ECM be bad? Can fuel pressure alone cause it to act like. If my pressure is too high, or two low would this be a cause of the problem?
If fuel pressure is the problem, would that cause a code 82?

Ether is extremenly volatile, and in many cases it will ignite under compression without spark, and is not a very good way to test if the ignition is working. According to the FSM, if code 82 is present the engine will not start. It could be a problem with the Ignition Control Module, Crank Position Sensor, or connecting wires.

So, what do you think I should test? I am 100 percent getting spark. That is what makes this a less than simple issue.
The pages you provide, the very first thing it states is that I should not be getting spark. I am definitely getting spark. We have checked all plugs and wires with a spark like, they light up every time.
Is it possible code 82 is a false code? I would hate to replace parts I don't need to. Should I just do the tests on the sheet you provided?

Try clearing the code, and if it does not return, then look for something else. Have you checked the fuel injection fuses? You could get a set of NOID lamps ( $15-$30) and verufy that the PCM is firing the injectors. Check the fuel pressure with a gauge, just seeing that some fuel is squirting out does not indicate proper pressure.

Ive also got the code 82 but my car starts and runs, just misfires horribly
94 Firebird 3.4. Ive replaced the 3x crank sensor, tested new one at 1081ohms. I am also getting .2 volts ac when cranking. So i replaced the ICM and still have the same problem. I know this thread is old but did you ever figure out what your problem was. This thing is driving me nuts.
Thanks to anyone who reads this and can help.

Wayne, my engine was just plane shot to be 100% honest. I don't exactly what it ended up being but the car was sold and the engine torn out and it was basically deemed un-repairable by the gentleman who bought it. For the most part it lacked compression and I think the codes were just a cascade effect. Lots of things stopped working correctly and this code was a flow down of some other failures.
Best of luck to you.
