Why wont my car move?

Default Why wont my car move?

Need Help....i have a Chevy Camaro 97 automatic 3.8L that will turn over but wont move when i put into gear...it will the first time but wont when i go from Drive to Reverse/Rev to Drive. Have to rev engine high 3k or so rpms to move it but slowly....what could be cause?
i know oil needs to be changed and trans fluid has a purplish color??? i have not clue from here on....any info would be much appreciated

Have you check the trans fluid level? How does it smell?

Sounds like you fried either the converter, front pump or first gear.

Any one of those would mean a new transmission is in you future.
