Default Car will not move.....

I have a 2013 Camero, after washing it at home I park in the garage and may not move it for a day and when I do you can put in gear and the vehicle will not move. Then put in drive it would not go forward. After several attempts in drive and reverse it finally went in reverse. Anyone had this happen and if so is it just because it was washed and the rust from the brakes sticking?

I'm assuming the car was on.
What was it doing when you put it into gear (Did it idle funny, did it actually do anything or nothing at all, any weird noises, did it actually go into gear)?

I wash my car just before winter and it usually doesn't move for 4-5 months and I get hardly any rust build up. I can not see letting the car sit a day or two after a wash is going to prevent it from moving.

Sounds more like you have a transmission issue. If it only does after a wash, I would suspect water is getting somewhere it shouldn't and is messing with the electronics for the transmission.

Describe a little more what "will not move" means:
Do you put it in gear, and absolutely nothing happens?
Do you put it in gear, you can feel the transmission grab, but the engine races when you give it gas?
Do you put it in gear, you can feel the transmission grab, but the engine strains and groans as if the car is chained to a tree?

Default car will not move

Car was washed, pulled in garage to wipe off and waxed. Next day or day after went out turn on, put in R would not move no engine noise increase, put back in P then in D (foot on brake), no jump or engine noise then back in P and into R gave a little gas, heard a click then moved backward. This happened once before in the 3 years we've owned this vehicle, after washed and sat in garage. Runs fine otherwise. Will take to dealer next week to have them look at. I know when you wash the rotors will rust but never had one stick tight before.

Could be as simple as a shifter/cable adjustment to trans lever/detent.
Or low trans oil level?

does it act like your power braking it but wheels won't spin? if you have sticky brake pad/rotor you should be able to fell the car body shift with increase in throttle just like it would during a power brake. are you setting the e brake each time? they can stick
