Default Tranny issues

Hello all,

I have been having issues with the transmission on my manual 3.4L in my '95.
Since I bought the car, every now and then while driving, the shifter would start wobbling back and forth violently. It would almost always do this while decelerating after going relatively fast (60+). I realized that if I killed the engine and started it back up, the shifter would be solid again.
Starting this morning, my trick no longer solves the problem for long. The shifter just falls right back out of place (for lack of better terms) and starts shaking back and forth, even at low speeds.
Do any of you have any idea what could be wrong? Maybe the clutch or pressure plate (or both) need to be replaced? The car has 59K miles on it, and as far as I know the clutch is still stock.
I have also noticed some strange sounds coming from the tranny in 4th and 5th gear. In 4th gear, it sounds like the gears are grinding as I accelerate, and my 5th gear feels like the gear is missing teeth or something.

Sound to me like you trans mount broke. Jack the car up and try to lift the trans tail shaft or pry it up and see if the trans mount comes a part.

Thanks, Gorn. This sounds logical; when the problem happens, it does feel like the trans is "popping" out of place. When I get home from work tonight, I'll jack her up and take a look at the mount. I'll just bike down to the local autozone and grab a new one if it's messed up.
I'll update this thread later.
