Are you sure the sync is the issue? If you are sitting still and the clutch is pushed and working you should not need a sync because nothing in the transmission should be turning. Most manual transmission do not even have syncs on reverse.

The only reason modern manual sync reverse is because some people will let the clutch out with the transmission in neutral, On older car you need to wait after you push the clutch in until the input shaft stop spinning. Since no one likes to wait and they complains there is something wrong with the car now cars have sync reverse.

Most of the time grinding reverse is due to a failing pressure plate or clutch hydraulic system. Try this. Push clutch in, start car, make sure the car is not drift or moving in anyway, put car in reverse, does it grind? If it does then your clutch is not disengaging the transmission from the engine. It is normal for a failing pressure plate or clutch hydraulic system to show up as a reverse issue first. If you let it go long enough it will destroy the syncs in your forward gears also.

That is more likely to be a bent fork or worn rod.

As for a write up, just get the manual. No one is going to rewrite a procedure that long. You are into a tear down anytime your are dealing with the counter shaft parts. As a General rule manual trans need a lot of special to and a few transmission specific tools. These are hard gears you make one mistake and you can damage $1500 worth of parts in a single heart beat.

Yes the car is popping out of reverse constantly and is to the point that i can no longer stand it. As far as the clutch being the issue i suppose it is possible but I replaced it a year ago when I put forged internals in the car. The clutch assembly might have 10,000 miles on it. Guess the only true way to know will be to tear it apart and inspect. From what i was able to find in the short time i searched the web this seemed to a common problem that isn't all that complicated a fix. Was hoping someone that has been though this before would chime in.

Clutch would not cause the popping out issue. Normally with a manual trans when the sleeve pops off the gear it is because it was never all the way on. This is very hard on the sync but the damaged sync is normally caused of the problem

Check out this video, You should be able to see that the sync is for the leading the sleeve during the shift, once the sleeve engages on the gear the sync is no longer doing anything. If a sleeve is popping off normally that means the sleeve was never fully engage. If you jump to 12:38 into the video you can see the black gear and brass sync. There is a shift folk the puts that ring into place. These forks bend and wear. also the rods that push the forks can cause issues.
