Replacing the slave cylinder on a 1997 RS V6
After looking for help with my sons 1997 Camaro RS V6 Convertible, I was directed to this site on a Google search. I have to say I am amazed and very pleased with all of the knowledge on this site. I am very happy that I found this site. My problem is with the clutch on this Camaro. Had a lot of work done to it, including having the trans, clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing just over 4,500 miles ago in Nov. 2010. Son drove home from work and the next morning the clutch goes to the floor with no dis-engagement of the clutch. It seems like the hydraulic system master and.or slave cylinder is the problem. Do I ned to remove the transmission in order to replace the slave cylinder? From everything I see it looks like I do. Does anyone think that by pumping it for a few hours would help? How hard is it to replace and is there a way to check it before I try to take it all apart? Thanking everyone in advance for any and all help you can provide.

Usually if the clutch pedal goes to the floor the hydralic system which is the slave cylinder is leaking and needs to be replaced. Is there fluid leaking from the trans? If so id say definately slave. Most likely have to remove the transmission.
