Default Rear end

Okay 117,000 miles later and a few mods here and there the rear end is going out on me. I was expecting it to need to be replaced after my top end was built but id much rather be safe and replace this first. Whats everyone's opinion on them i was thinking ether Moser 12 bolt or Strange 12 bolt. Thanks

Moser or Ford 9" will be the best choice. 12 bolts are strong, but the 9" is stronger. I forget the exact saying, but it went something like: if you want to do a burnout, get a 12 bolt-if you want to do 2 burnouts, get a 9 inch

The 9 is also easier to work on.

THIS

I have a 9 inch in my car, wouldn't even consider going to a 12 bolt

im sorta on the fence for my 93, 9in is quite'r handles more hp and abuse but weighs more and costs more. 12 bolt will handle what you have so long as boost or juice is not used. strange is what i am thinking of using if i go with a 12 bolt.

actually, the weigh difference between a 9 inch and a 12 bolt isn't as much as its made out to be. We weighed my fully dressed 9 inch and a friends fully dressed 12 bolt on our nitrous scale (which is dead on to the ounce) and it was 18lbs difference and mine had a nodular iron center section, I could make that difference up with an aluminum center section. This was with full weight (ie not gun drilled) 35 spline moser axles, 35 spline spool, daytona pinion support, strange iron center section and the bigger pinion. This was ready to bolt in my car.

I know this might not help but the last time I dealt with strange they fixed me up with a eaton Kevlar unit 33 spline custom axles with 3 1/2 studs and a few other things for less than 700 bucks for my 8.8 which are really cheap and I was cutting 1.4's and the rear is currently in a friends car 5 yrs later. I compared the 10 bolt vs a 8.8 on swapping in the future and it's not that difficult and you would have rear end for 1000 bucks that is just as strong and lighter
