Question for all guys who pulled original rear axle
I am in the process of restoring (freshening) my Dads low mileage, all original Z28.
My question is this: were the original rear axles painted or bare metal from the factory??
I ask this because I am removing Ziebart coating slowly with Paint Thinner and I have no black paint/powder coating like on front suspension. I’m sure you guys have replaced a ton of these original rear ends- Were they black or solid rust?
Just trying to make it right since Dad is no longer here to answer these questions.

far as I know rear differential assembly is not painted at factory. I believe the center section rear cover is... I have a 9 inch under mine now so wouldnt do me any good to look.
