Pinion Shaft holes not aligned.

Pinion Shaft holes not aligned.
I was replacing the rear wheel bearing on my 95 Z28. When I went to put everything back together, the hole for the Pinion Shaft is no longer aligned, it looks like the gear moved about half an inch out of alignment. I've tried prying the gear back down, but didn't want to put to much pressure on the inside of the differential.
I did rotate the differential a few time without the pinion shaft in, so I'm guessing this is when it happened, but I'm not sure.
Any suggestions on how to get the gear back into alignment so I can get the differential back together?

Why did you remove the pinion to replace a wheel bearing?
I suspect you may be talking about the axle shaft and the spider gears. If this is the case simply rotate the one wheel while holding the main gear stationary. it should only take very little movement to get everything lined up.
