Driveshaft Grooves
1994 camaro t56 manual transmission. The center of the grooves is aboit 3 inches in, the trans started to leaks about two months ago(maybe 3 drops sitting over night). When i took the trans out, there was fluid around the entires tailshaft of the trans, maybe half way up the trans itself. Anyone have this problem before, if so, help please!

I have not seen wear like thay Its the position of the wear that has me scratching my head. Either the transmission seal or the drive shaft bushing can cause groves but they would be farther forward and you can kind of see the correct wear marks for those. Is the car lowered or something odd. I would be pulling the tail housing to see what is rubbing, Whatever it is its going to have wear on it.

The car is not lowered, it does have c5 wheels on it, but I've had the trans out a few times within the past 3 years and there has been no indications of excessive wear. I'm going to have the trans looked at in a month or so, I will post what ended up being wrong

Update
I took the trans to liberty gear in michigan, they had me come in with them and had me watch them take the tailshaft off of the trans. The bushing behind the tailshaft seal was aftermarket, and also out of round. It is still at liberty gear now, all they are doing is re machining the tailshaft housing and putting a new bushing in it. $125, they are awesome guys there. Ask for Paul
